Becoming a Chief Fire Officer

The Chief Fire officer (CFO) is considered as the highest ranking posts in the field of fire and rescue service in US. There are approximately 59 chief fire officers working in United States. They are in charge of different county fire services. The Chief Fire Officers are accountable for the Ministry of Defense Fire Services. This Ministry of Defense Fire Services includes in itself the RAF and Defense Fire and Rescue fire services.

Some of the Airport Fire Services in United States are also designed as the senior officer as Chief Fire Officer but these officers rarely wear the marking rank. All do not get to this position easily. This position needs persons who are fearless, and who have high tolerance. After the position is changed the Chief Fire Officers are named as Brigade Managers in line with directives of modernization which is issued by department of local government and the department of communities. But this title is not so popular in many cases it is not declared also. The other title given to these officers are Chief Executive and the County Fire Officer. These titles are mostly used as County Fire Officer. Here the Fire Brigade is named for the position of Chief Fire Officer as Commissioner for Fire and Emergency Planning. The responsibility of the Chief Fire Officer is to be in command of the services of fire in all areas. The junior officer has to follow the word of the Chief Fire Officer and they have to agree and pass by the fire authority to whom the Chief Fire Officer reports. This is the most risky job and some time our life also may not be in our hands.
