The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Mid-Atlantic food hub, ensuring its financial sustainability, and developing and maintaining relationships with their customers and farmers. The Mid-Atlantic Food Hub operates independently, managing its own infrastructure and local staff, and The Commons, the organization's centralized location, provides support across the organization.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute strategies to ensure the financial sustainability of the Mid-Atlantic food hub
Oversee the daily operations of the Mid-Atlantic food hub and manage its infrastructure and local staff
Develop and maintain relationships with customers and suppliers, including farmers and ranchers who are at the forefront of creating an equitable and resilient food system
Lead and manage a diverse and inclusive team, promoting a culture of collaboration and accountability
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and policies, including food safety, labor laws, and environmental regulations
Collaborate with other organizations and stakeholders to build strong and resilient regional food systems
Represent **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and the Mid-Atlantic food hub to external stakeholders, including funders, policymakers, and the media
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in nonprofit management, food systems, or a related field
Strong financial management skills, including budgeting and forecasting
Experience developing and implementing strategies to achieve organizational goals
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders
Strong leadership skills, with the ability to lead, manage, and inspire a team
Knowledge of and/or experience with sustainable agriculture and local food systems
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
